As one of the largest life insurance companies in the United States, New York Life was faced with the daunting task of developing enterprise-wide Records Lifecycle Management policies and procedures. A Fortune 100 company in one of the most highly regulated industries, with multiple operating companies and a highly distributed IT infrastructure, building and implementing a plan had significant challenges and some unexpected benefits.
At this event, Brian Smith, Corporate Vice President, will present the process New York Life went through developing and implementing their records management plan. He’ll describe how New York Life was able to reduce costs associated with the long term retention and management of corporate records, reduce the associated IT and business risks and reduce the overhead associated with legal discovery by implementing a comprehensive records lifecycle management strategy.
Dick Fisher, Senior Consultant with Cohasset Associates will offer practical advice regarding the challenges and opportunities associated with developing policies and procedures.
During this practical, user-focused session, participants will learn:
- Why archiving is not enough to meet retention and supervision requirements
- Why records lifecycle management is important to all organizations; not just those in highly regulated industries
- The challenges associated with records lifecycle management
- Regulatory and records management trends and opportunities
- Best practices for records lifecycle management
- Key components of a successful records lifecycle management program
- What to consider when selecting a vendor
- Mistakes to avoid – from an end user perspective
- How New York Life is using AXS-One technology to manage the lifecycle of their records in compliance with corporate policies and procedures
